The Global Resilience Flotilla - A Challenge Journey to Break the Siege on Gaza
Report/عبده بغيل ||الحديدة اكسبرسAugust 9, 2025In the face of the world's silence and the suffering of its people, the Global Resilience Flotilla continues its journey towards Gaza, a journey measured not in miles, but in determination and humanity. The flotilla set out on a bold mission: to break the stifling Israeli siege and open a humanitarian corridor to provide relief to the Palestinian people exhausted by war and genocide. The port of Sidi Bou Said, north of the Tunisian capital, witnessed a massive public reception for the arrival of the first ships of the "Global Resilience Flotilla." Hundreds of Tunisians flocked to the port, carrying the flags of Palestine and other participating countries, chanting slogans of solidarity and support for the Palestinian people. At a press conference held at the port, the spokesperson for the Spanish mission, Diego Elvira, announced that the flotilla had faced harsh storms and challenges over the course of its seven-day voyage. However, he emphasized that these challenges were nothing compared to the daily suffering of the Palestinians, which is beyond description. He added that the primary goal of this initiative is to "support the Palestinian people and denounce decades of genocide at the hands of the occupation."This flotilla is considered the largest maritime solidarity movement for Gaza in history, comprising approximately 20 ships carrying activists, artists, and public figures from more than 45 nationalities. They have stripped themselves of their national identities to become ambassadors of humanity, united by one goal: to end the ongoing genocide and open a path of life in the face of death. This voyage set out from the port of Barcelona, followed by convoys from the Italian port of Genoa, with other convoys preparing to join from Tunisia. The flotilla's organizing authority officially announced the postponement of the departure from Tunisia to next Wednesday due to technical and logistical reasons beyond its control, including delays in ships arriving from Spain and bad weather conditions, in addition to the need to prepare the ships in the port. The flotilla is preparing to face serious obstacles, as activists have warned of the possibility of Israeli intervention to obstruct or fire on the ships. However, participants expressed confidence that arresting such a large number of activists may be a difficult task for the Israeli military. The flotilla is determined to breach the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for more than 22 months, which has caused a near-total paralysis of ports and prevented the arrival of essential supplies, leading to a catastrophic deterioration in the humanitarian situation. This action comes amid the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the injury of hundreds of thousands more, most of them women and children. While thousands remain missing, and the displaced are suffering unbearable conditions,
