Military experts indicated that the missile strike targeting the northern Israeli city of Haifa represents a paradigm shift in the Yemeni escalation in support of the Gaza Strip, which the Yemeni armed forces had threatened a few days ago.
This is the first time that Yemeni missiles have reached Haifa, the northernmost city in Israel. This strike was preceded by Israel's announcement that a new early warning system had been activated ten minutes before the missile's arrival. However, sources reported that the sirens did not sound until the missile struck its target.
Experts believe this indicates that the missile used possesses advanced capabilities, including hypersonic speed and a longer range, in addition to the ability to bypass interception and jamming systems and defensive tactics.
In a related context, experts noted that the Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman described the missile in his statement as "hypersonic," without indicating whether it was a "Palestine 1" or "Palestine 2" model, opening the door to speculation that it was an entirely new missile. Some have wondered whether this missile will be named "Haifa" to reflect this unique strike.
