In a pioneering medical step that reflects the hospital's determination to keep pace with the latest global technologies despite difficult circumstances, the Modern European Hospital in Sana'a announced the success of the first transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation, without the need for open-heart surgery.
The operation was performed by Professor Dr. Taha Al-Maimouni, Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Catheterization, and his specialized medical team, on Friday, August 8, 2025. This achievement represents a new glimmer of hope for patients who believed their conditions were beyond their reach.
A Series of Consecutive Medical Achievements
This was not the hospital's first success. Over the past few months, the medical team has successfully implanted 45 different valves (aortic, mitral, and tricuspid) using catheters. These successive operations prove that Yemeni competencies are capable of providing advanced medical services comparable to those in developed countries.
Dedication to Success and Thanks to Supporters
Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Al-Maimouni expressed his thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to it, starting with God Almighty, extending to the kind hands that helped and supported him, and the patients who placed their trust in the medical team. He also extended special thanks to his professors at Cairo University and Sana'a University, as well as his cardiologist colleagues at the Military Heart Center and the Modern European Hospital, who supported this achievement.
These successes demonstrate that Yemen, despite all challenges, is continuing on the path of medical development, and that hope is created by Yemeni hands that believe in their ability to innovate and excel.
